Möbius Fence

2008/06/16 - 10:00

Conversations on authors, institutions and ties between the two

Moderated by Usman Haque(UK), architect

June 16th, Brunch and round table, Millenaris park, fogadó building.

It has been argued that it is impossible to pursue work that fundamentally challenges institutional frameworks when working with an institution, with all the historical and commercial associations that these entities are party to. On the other hand it has also been argued that, in order to challenge the fundamentals of an institutional framework, one must operate from inside.

New models of production are emerging where the relationship between authors and institutions, artists and corporations, developers and distributors are both more evident than before and less definable. This meeting will bring together international participants, who have found themselves on various sides of a möbius fence, to discuss differing perspectives on these issues.
