Software consumption and mouse gymnastics
We are introducing recently developed KIBU projects after being presented in Helsinki, London and Madrid
Have you heard a bean speak Morse Code? Do you know how many meters your mouse runs every day? How do the components of air react to city-life? How does a netflower look like? Whether you want to compete against your mouse, make the netflower jingle, decode Poem beans, get instant news digests or experiment with our new multitouch screen, you're more than welcome at Kitchen Budapest on 29th of April, 12AM-8PM!

BYMM
http://www.kitchenbudapest.hu/en/bymm

It is a well-known fact that people spend more and more time in front of their computers. That includes work, media consumption and a growing amount of online multitasking. As our lifestyles change towards spending more hours a days front of the screen than before, we offer a concept to balance this lifestyle in a playful way.To achieve this, we are developing a map-distortion web-tool. We came up with the idea of the Beat Your Mouse Movement and data stream. The project consists of two pillars one is a web/desktop application called Mousey that tracks the mouse pointer and the other one is Steppy that counts steps. People can track their mouse pointer during the time they work, play or browse on their computer with Mousey and compare their virtual steps to their real ones, which is provided by Steppy, creating a playful competition to literally beat the mouse!
In the Air
http://www.kitchenbudapest.hu/en/in_the_air_en

In the Air is a visualization project which aims to make visible the microscopic and invisible agents of the air (gases, particles, pollen, diseases, etc), to see how they perform, react and interact with the rest of the city. The visualization tool is a web-based dynamic model which builds up the space the components generate, where through data crossing behavior patterns emerge. The project proposes a platform for individual and collective awareness and decision making, where the interpretation of results can be used for real time navigation through the city, opportunistic selection of locations according to their air conditions and a base for political action.
SubMap
http://www.kitchenbudapest.hu/en/projects/submap

We are deeply interested how we can express our memories and impression of a city using maps. Now we want to draw a subjective map that put the weight on the places and rescale the map according to our preferences.
LANdelion
http://www.kitchenbudapest.hu/en/projects/landelion

KIBU has created a new flower species - its name is derived from the English word ‘dandelion’ and the acronym 'LAN' (Local Area Network). The organically shaped LANdelion is crafted from reused cables, and it is revived by blowing its petals. The one diameter sphere behaves as a round blow-sensor and reacts to the actions of the participants. The sculpture is gently glowing by default. Landelion was exhibited at the Kinetica Art Fair London in February 2010.
Nighmo

New series from new material, perfect prototype for mass production...
Poem Bean

http://versbab.kibu.hu

The Poem Bean is a silly little gadget communicating in an old school way. You can store a poem or any personal message in your bean. New series!
Portable Multitouch
http://www.kitchenbudapest.hu/en/node/853
Our goal was to develop a multitouch that we can fold into a minimal size that is easy enough to be portable. This time dressed in "rapid prototyping" style mixed up with a slight retro feeling.

Newsleak
http://www.kitchenbudapest.hu/en/newsleak

As an urban realtime publication, NewsLeak is a motivated functional hybrid of real and digital cultures and media. Press a button on a wall in a street to instantly receive a printed summary of the latest news from around the world, news of your current location, news of internet cultures, events, trends and social media.
in collaboration with Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design
EatUp
http:http://www.kitchenbudapest.hu/en/eatup

The aim of the project is to develop a network for people who are ready to share their meals. The project will be supported by a website eatup.com. Which helps users to search for 'eatup' meetings by area, number of participants or dishes served; put online their own events or find people with common tastes.
Wakoopa T-Shirt
http://www.kitchenbudapest.hu/en/wakoopatshirt

We designed an interactive t-shirt, which is suppose to represent computer using habits. We came up with this concept to amend the already existing website called Wakoopa. (www.wakoopa.com)
Aquaglitch
This is a water-based controller interface for sonic and visual installations. Using an Arduino wired up with LDR’s, to ’analyze’ the waving in a bowl of water,
Aquaglitch translate the natural phenomena into raw computer data, thus capable of modulating video and audio signals.
Aquaglitch is by Áron Birtalan and Dániel Feles, from Kitchen Budapest. Beta version of the project was exhibited at Kunsthalle Budapest in February 2009.
Facebook Top Trumps
http://www.kitchenbudapest.hu/en/facebook_top_trumps

When using social sites, people are likely to share all kind of information about themselves, without any consideration. Therefore, a huge amount of data is piled on the web. We tried to find out a small game for the purpose of presenting this issue. This is how we got to the idea of using top trumps cards as a sample.
